Chongqing Forum: Charting the Path for Chinese Automotive Globalization
As a premier annual event for China's automotive industry, the 2026 China Auto Chongqing Forum kicked off the exhibition on June 12. The forum brought together nearly 100 global automotive industry leaders and over 600 industry professionals, focusing on industry hotspots, pain points, and bottlenecks – reviewing mid-year industry trends, recalibrating technology iteration directions, and addressing competitive challenges.
Kevin Liu, CTO of Carlinx, was invited to join a panel discussion alongside industry representatives from Nissan, Bosch, Banma Intelligence, NavInfo, and Zhijia Xincheng. Centered on the core topic "Maritime Roadmap – New Opportunities in Global Markets and the Globalization Journey of Chinese Brands," the discussion explored how Chinese automakers can proactively navigate new international rules and standards.

Addressing concerns about data security in overseas markets – and how industry chain companies can enhance end-user acceptance of intelligent features – Liu shared insights from Carlinx's practical experience in automotive data intelligence for global expansion.

Key Fact: Telematics is the First Step in Going Global
Fact one: Chinese brands still need time to build recognition in overseas markets, especially among C-end consumers. Currently, about 30% to 40% of China's exported vehicles – including commercial vehicles – ultimately end up in fleet scenarios: ride-hailing, rental, and logistics.
Fact two: Many exported vehicles face disconnection and loss of connectivity overseas. Only 30% of exported vehicles are connected; and among those, only 10% of users choose to renew their connectivity subscription in the second year.
There are two user categories: C-end consumers and B-end customers. C-end consumers have limited exposure to smart features; B-end customers – including fleet operators – face practical challenges such as lack of remote management and dispatch capabilities, inability to use navigation, and no access to remote diagnostics.

At this stage, vehicle exports are far more than simply selling cars. Truly going global means making vehicles connected, intelligent, and capable of continuous operation in the long run.
Building Overseas Infrastructure for Connectivity, Intelligence, and Operability Quickly
Whether an overseas infrastructure for connectivity, intelligence, and operability can be established rapidly is a more pressing question. While mature solutions for rapid implementation, deployment, validation, and operations exist in China, overseas markets still lack sufficient momentum and clear business models to invest in large-scale infrastructure.
A positive signal: local cloud providers, network operators, model providers, and AI infrastructure players are increasing their overseas deployment efforts, creating favorable conditions for Chinese automakers to rapidly build and deploy infrastructure abroad.
On the compliance front – whether GDPR or the AI Act – Carlinx has already fully incorporated overseas data compliance and AI compliance requirements into its domestic architecture design. The next step is to accelerate infrastructure construction and deployment overseas, ensuring that exported vehicles are truly connected, intelligent, and operable.

From June 13 to 16, the 2026 Future Auto AI Technology Exhibition was held at Hall N6 of the Chongqing International Expo Center. From foundational technology breakthroughs to real-world scenario deployment, and from lab innovation to industrial application, the exhibition highlighted the core forces and key trends shaping the future of AI-powered automotive.
As an automotive data intelligence service provider, Carlinx showcased its full lifecycle core products and solutions – including Hyper Flow, Hyper Agent, Intelligent Diagnostics Platform, Hyper Fleet, and Hyper Hub.
